This comedy-drama about four young men rooming together in Chicago is tart and smart, and it’s actually about something: the bug called lack of commitment. Though written and directed by a man (Tom Flynn), it refreshingly shows men as cranky and insecure, women as intelligent and funny. The story’s a tad too schematic, but as a sounding board on how men and women relate to each other in the ’90s, Watch It has resonance. It also has one of the best retorts in recent memory: ”I’m a woman, heh? If you ever become a man, look me up.” B+
