So I Married an Axe Murderer is a classic case of a soundtrack that far outshines its film. Though this collection suffers from ”There She Goes” overkill — the pop ditty is covered by the Boo Radleys and the La’s — it’s a small complaint. Soul Asylum sounds Dylanesque on ”The Break,” the Darling Buds are all ethereal longing on ”Long Day in the Universe,” and even ”Saturday Night,” surely one of the lamest pop songs ever written, is given a blast of snarling energy in the hands of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.
