Yet another tale of a lunatic fan told in memos, letters, and faxes. Rising TV anchorwoman Joan Carpenter gets some unsettling attention that leads to a gruesome on-air mutilation. When the police suspect Joan, the real villain plots a deadlier broadcast to clear her. Fan Mail is all told (in writing) by Joan, the cops, Joan’s psychiatrist sister, her smarmy boss, her gardener, her agent, and the villain who may or may not be one of the above. But they all write exactly alike — too slowly, and with statements like ”The violence the Watcher has already perpetrated shows he is a dangerous person.” You’ll be ahead of it the whole time. C
