UNPLUGGED Neil Young If MTV’s acoustic-minded series already seems tired, maybe it’s because most of the big stars unplug their brains along with their instruments, cranking out rote performances while using acoustic instruments instead of electric ones. But Young actually turns a few of his tunes inside out. ”Like a Hurricane,” for example, was originally a force-10 blast of guitar, but it gets a grandiose pipe-organ-ized treatment here. Elsewhere, Young stays closer to form, chugging softly through a smattering of folk, country, and rock tunes from his overstuffed catalog. A-
