16 WEDNESDAY STORM THE CASTLE (CBS, 8-9 p.m.) Michael Burger (a comic who has warmed up Rose-anne and Mr. Belvedere studio audiences) and Nely Galan (an HBO executive who has hosted several infotainment programs) co-emcee this obstacle-course game show special. Events include ”The Spinning Mushroom” (contestants try to hang on to a giant whirling toadstool) and ”The Devil’s Domain” (an elaborate maze populated by gremlins). Hallucinogens not included. MOVIE: BLACK ICE (USA, 9-11 p.m.) Gorky Park’s Joanna Pacula plays a terrified woman fleeing a killer fed (Total Recall’s Michael Ironside) with the help of a random cabbie (Flashdance’s Michael Nouri).

THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW (HBO, 10-10:30 p.m.) Larry (Garry Shandling) is convinced he is being stalked by his own ”Mrs. Letterman”-like psycho fan, in an episode guest-starring L.A. Law’s Corbin Bernsen and Saturday Night Live’s Phil Hartman.

17 THURSDAY THE FORBIDDEN DESERT OF DANAKIL (A&E, 9-10 p.m.) Explorer Wilfred Thesiger narrates the first full-length documentary about Ethiopia’s murderous, mutilative Danakil tribe, said to be the most unpleasant people on earth.

18 FRIDAY PASSING ON THE DREAM: A FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL (CNBC, 8-9 p.m.) Televangelist Pat Robertson and his Family Channel CEO son Tim and ’70s baseball great Bobby Bonds and his ’90s diamond offspring Barry are two of the combos featured in this salute to pops.

CUTTERS (CBS, 8:30-9 p.m.) This barbershop-set summer sitcom boasts an accomplished comic cast: Airplane!’s Robert Hays, Major League’s Margaret Whitton, Mur-phy Brown’s Julius Carry, and Nashville’s Henry Gibson.

19 SATURDAY THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES (ABC, 8-9 p.m.) George Lucas’ award-winning adventure series (see story on page 44) sends li’l Indy (Corey Carrier) to 1908 Paris, where he crosses paths with young artists Norman Rockwell (Rambling Rose’s Lukas Haas) and Pablo Picasso (Daniel Webb).

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? (Nickelodeon, 9:30-10 p.m.) Wheezing comic Bobcat Goldthwait (Shakes the Clown) guest- stars as ”The Sandman,” a demon who haunts the dreams of a young girl, in this installment of the scary-stories- by-the-campfire show.

20 SUNDAY EAST WIND, WEST WIND, PEARL BUCK, THE WOMAN WHO EMBRACED THE WORLD (PBS, check local listings) The author of 1930’s The Good Earth (and the only American woman ever to win the Nobel Prize for literature) is profiled through home movies and interviews with friends, relatives, and China scholars.

21 MONDAY CAESARS CHALLENGE (NBC, check local listings) Sportsman Ahmad Rashad hosts this new game show taped at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a coproduction of the network, the casino, and action honcho Stephen J. Cannell (The Rockford Files, Wiseguy).

PARADISE BEACH (syndicated, check local listings) Or Baywatch meets 90210 down under. Matt Lattanzi (Mr. Olivia Newton-John) heads the youthful cast of this new weekly sun-‘n’-skin-athon, set on the shim-mering shores of Australia’s Gold Coast.
