Life in Belgian director Jaco Van Dormael’s alternatively winsome and wild film is one damn thing after another. An old man (Bouquet) going through his second childhood remembers his crisis-laden life and reflects on his longtime nemesis, the boy next door with whom he believes he was switched at birth. But Toto the Hero, which has a dark, scathing wit, is better at telling his life than showing it. It might keep the home viewer amused, though not really involved. B
