Guitar gods are usually so busy trying to diddle their digits that they forget to make coherent music. Not so with acoustic virtuoso Adrian Legg. Combining dazzling finger-picking technique with witty melodizing on Mrs. Crowe’s Blue Waltz, this gnomish Englishman plays with understated flash. Danny Gatton, on the other hand, is all-American, letting his stunning electric-guitar chops loose on a barroom collection of R&B, rockabilly, and blues. If Legg’s fretwork is a classy wine and cheese feast, Gatton’s is a Jack Daniel’s with a Moon Pie. Save both recipes. Mrs. Crowe: B+
