- Problem Child
- Was it really necessary to have two pictures of Shannen Doherty on the cover ( 167, April 23)? Andy Warhol once said that everyone gets 15 minutes of fame. If that is true, then Ms. Doherty has already had 14 minutes too many.

Shannen Doherty already thinks like Marilyn Quayle. Why make her wear the same outfits?
Sherman Oaks, Calif.
It amazes me how some people confuse actors with the characters they play. Brenda Walsh is a bitch. Shannen Doherty is not. To quote Shannen from Heathers: ”Jealous much?”
What’s all the fuss over Shannen Doherty? I commend her for being strong, spirited, and bitchy. I’m sure a lot of young women are very jealous of her. To Shannen: You go, girl!
Port Arthur, Tex.
The Girls of Summer
I was 11 years old in 1962 and played sandlot baseball. After reading your review of The Sandlot, I had one question: Where are the girls in The Sandlot?
Great. After Star Wars was released we had space flicks galore; today Hollywood’s churning out copycat psycho-thrillers inspired by Fatal Attraction (itself similar to Clint Eastwood’s Play Misty for Me). Movies such as Dances With Wolves and Unforgiven were successful because they were well written and directed, not just because they were Westerns. Aren’t there any original ideas for a new genre?
- Aero’ Mail
- Wow! Who put the chip on David Browne’s shoulder? He doesn’t like the new Aerosmith album and, boy, this surprises me. I like it. They’re opening their world tour in Topeka, Kan.; you can’t go wrong. Thank God I don’t base my music selection on what the critics say.

Robbing De Niro
Robert De Niro is a wuss”? Good grief, one does not write things like that about the greatest actor in the universe. Besides, I’m sure his impersonation of Richard Widmark in the remake of Night and the City is every bit as good as his impersonation of Robert Mitchum in the remake of Cape Fear. Barry Eysman Brownsville, Tenn.
- Hot Sheet Takes Heat
- I am so tired of Jim Mullen’s sexist, racist Hot Sheet! I was extremely outraged by his ”back in the kitchen” comment. Does he feel ”cool” making such biased ”jokes”? If so, he has a lot of growing up to do, and that’s coming from a 14-year-old girl.
