The title is a hustle, on account of the Count’s not being in the movie. But don’t let that put you off this stylish tale of a degenerate-dandy baron (David Peel) who escapes his domineering mother’s shackles, literally, to prey on a nearby girls’ school. Thanks to laser’s easy way with deep colors that bleed and blur on tape, the lurid red and lavender light in which Brides of Dracula director Terence Fisher drenches his scenes comes through with nearly three-dimensional clarity — and turns a cardboard-cutout affair into a full-bodied tone poem.
