Sashaying in on a high wire of hype, Suede plunder the styles of their pop-fop forebears (Marc Bolan, Bowie, Morrissey) and rock your last nerve like a fabulously inappropriate prom date. On Suede, vocalist Brett Anderson and guitarist Bernard Butler exude ”anthems” about whatever, really, from bisexual lovesickness (”The Drowners”) to silly-goose masochism (”Animal Nitrate”). B+
