If Rumours is one of the best-selling albums of all time, why include all but three of its tracks on this boxed set? With a distinguished 25-year history and a truckload of fine albums to its credit, Fleetwood Mac could’ve had one of the finest collections ever. But this four-CD set is so heavily weighted with post-1975 Lindsey Buckingham-Stevie Nicks material, it’ll only satisfy Mac fans who bought their first CD player yesterday. Guitarist and founder Peter Green puts in a brief appearance here, as does his partner Jeremy Spencer. Guitarist Danny Kirwan — whose superb work on the early-’70s albums Future Games and Bare Trees kept Mac a viable commodity is near totally ignored. 25 Years — The Chain is lopsided, but hey, it might have been much worse. Thanks for keeping those Bon Jovi and Poison collaborations for your own hits set, Stevie. B-
