Attempting to mimic the skewed, funky tone of Repo Man — on which she worked — writer-director Abbe Wool has peopled Roadside Prophets with eccentrics (like Timothy Leary and David Carradine) spouting incoherent platitudes at a pair of mismatched bikers. The movie is genial and has a likably hangdog performance by rocker John Doe, but where exactly are the laughs? C-
