When he died in 1988, ”the Voice” left behind enough unfinished material to just about fill up an album; thus this respectfully assembled posthumous coda. While uneven, King of Hearts is certainly welcome — both for the inclusion of that otherworldly ”Crying” duet with k.d. lang and for the spine-tingling ”Love in Time,” with which the track’s producer and guitarist Robbie Robertson may have earned himself a ticket to the promised land.
