Back in the late ’80s, rockers Faster Pussycat glistened with raunchy personality, but they displayed little musical promise. Whipped!, the group’s third album, proves they’ve finally discovered that three-chord rock & roll doesn’t have to be sloppy. Streetwise musical rebels don’t often grow up gracefully, but with Faster Pussycat, tackiness and musical maturity find a blissful coexistence. B+
