Purse-lipped Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire) offers another characteristically pained performance Year of the Gun set in terrorism-torn Italy circa 1978. He barely seems able to muster enough energy for his big sex scene with Stone (Basic Instinct), who plays a fearless photojournalist.
