Costars battle for Oscar wins -- Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis and others competing for the same award
* Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon of Thelma & Louise are both competing for Best Actress this year. And coincidentally, Bugsy’s Harvey Keitel and Ben Kingsley are both up for Best Supporting Actor. They are the 52nd and 53rd twosomes from the same movie to vie for the same Oscar since the awards began. (On five occasions, a trio of costars battled each other.) * But only 18 winners have emerged from these internecine contests. And the bad news for Davis and Sarandon is that only one of these winners was for Best Actress (Shirley MacLaine beat Debra Winger for 1983’s Terms of Endearment).
