Body Parts

So you thought Edward Scissorhands had extremity troubles? Consider the plight of Bill Chrushank (Jeff Fahey), who loses his arm in a car crash, gets a new one from an unknown donor, then discovers that the limb has a violent life of its own. It hits his kid; it tries to strangle his wife. There is, however, a perfectly logical explanation for all this strange behavior: The arm’s original owner was a murderer. Reminiscent of the 1930s classic Mad Love — in which Peter Lorre gives a murderer’s hands to an innocent man — Body Parts takes the idea to such extremes that it borders on camp. Yet it’s not much fun. This thriller displays no wit, no edge, no energy. Despite its ample gore, it’s an oddly bloodless experience. C
