Out For Justice

In his latest high-speed vehicle, Out for Justice, born-for-video action star Steven Seagal plays a one-man police force out to avenge his partner’s murder — and tough luck on anyone who tries to slow him down. In other words, it’s business as usual, Seagal style: Extremities break in half, bodies crash through windows, bullets turn movie sets into Swiss cheese. Yet this outing is less slapdash than Seagal’s last one (Marked for Death) and less downright preposterous than the one before that (Hard to Kill). That makes it the martial artist’s strongest showing since his debut, Above the Law, which, like Justice, casts him as an Italian-American family man dedicated to truth, justice, and the old neighborhood. Rent both titles for the perfect Seagal double feature. B-
