When You're in Love

Lee Greenwood’s brand of Las Vegas-styled country-pop is often more jive than not, with too much silly wordplay and puffed-up emotion. Yet despite its ultra- slight rhythm tunes and disproportionate number of romantic ballads, When You’re in Love offers several genuinely soulful readings (”Common Kindness,” ”Somebody’s Gotta Take the Fall”), a sign Greenwood’s finally learned that today’s country audience demands more than assembly-line sentiment.
