Timothy Leary's life on film
Whoa, dude, who spiked the Kool-Aid? Interscope Communications, the movie company behind the goofy Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, is considering a feature film about the trippy life of ’60s acid guru Timothy Leary. Interscope has been huddling recently with Panacea Entertainment, which represents Leary in show-biz endeavors, over the project. The Leary story is just one of Panacea’s planned countercultural sagas, which also include a film based on rock groupie Pamela Des Barres’ 1987 book, I’m With the Band, and a TV movie starring Judd Nelson as Dallas Taylor, the former Crosby, Stills & Nash drummer who suffered from a life-threatening liver disease until last year, when he received an organ transplant. Panacea — which is also producing the three pictures — hopes viewers will tune in and turn on, but not drop out.
