Lena's Holiday

type
  • Movie

There’s a certain kind of movie in which the main characters fall in love inside a scene shaped like a three-minute music video — all intercut cigarette-ad poses, synth-rock soundtrack, and slow-motion breezes. Lena’s Holiday is exactly that sort of movie, but one that also dares a plot mixing diamonds, a mysterious box of condoms, and an East German beauty (Felicity Waterman, sporting a horrible fake accent) intent on the ideal L.A. vacation. Still looking for excitement? Skip the tape and take home the life-size cardboard cutout of sexy costar Waterman on display in video stores. D+
