A Waltz Through the Hills

Determination, trust, and survival are central elements in A Waltz Through the Hills, the compelling WonderWorks film about two recently orphaned children, 11-year-old Andrew Dean (Andre Jansen) and his 5-year-old sister, Sammy (Tina Kemp). Afraid they’ll be sent to a home or separated, the two walk 140 miles from their home in western Australia to Perth. There the kids hope to board a ship for England, where their grandparents live. The police begin a frenzied search for the youngsters. Jansen and Kemp offer artlessly convincing portrayals, and Ernie Dingo is mesmerizing as Frank Smith, the aborigine who befriends and protects the children in the bush. A
