Wonderworks: The Silver Chair

For the last two seasons, the WonderWorks series has offered fine British-made adaptations of C.S. Lewis’ classic ”Narnia” series of children’s books. The Silver Chair continues the adventure in the magical land of Narnia, as two English schoolchildren (David Thwaites, Camilla Power) attempt to rescue a captive prince. The kids are aided by Glimfeather, a talking owl, and Aslan, a sonorous, rather stuffy lion. The special effects are crude by American standards, but the storytelling is vastly superior to what passes for adaptations of children’s literature in this country. In short: solid stuff that will make you and your kids want to read the books, if you haven’t already. A-
