Hard rock and heavy metal are young people’s music. But often it’s the older bands that prove most dependable. AC/DC, founded in 1974, explodes on its new album’s first track (”Thunderstruck”) with enough coiled fury to make you think it invented the genre. Check out the opening guitar delirium, the crowd growling like beasts in the background, and the way the first chord sits there unchanged, gathering power for two full minutes. In the video, check out guitarist Angus Young, insanely shot from below as he bounces around on a transparent stage. The other songs on The Razors Edge aren’t as distinctive, but don’t let that stop you. If you’re a hard-rock addict — if raucous rock & roll intensity is what you want — this is one album that really delivers. A-
