After the Thin Man

In After the Thin Man, Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy) return home to San Francisco and get involved in the most convoluted murder case of their screen career. The Thin Man, of course, was a pretty tough act to follow, and the sophistication of Nick and Nora’s relationship no longer came as a surprise in this first of five sequels. But overall, the picture is even more entertaining than the original, thanks to a terrific supporting cast of snooty society types and an against-the-grain performance by a young Jimmy Stewart. A
