Something dark, twisty, and absolutely gorgeous this way comes... To create The Alienist mini-series on TNT (Mondays at 9 p.m. on TNT), production took over a considerable amount of real estate in Budapest in order to allow the cast and crew feel as though they'd stepped back in time to 1896 New York City, where an "alienist" (a former term for a psychiatrist) played by Daniel Brühl and his cohorts begin investigating some rather disturbing crimes.

"What we wanted to do was present an authentic 1890s Lower East Side, New York, and make it feel almost like a true story, a factual, historically accurate portrayal of New York life," Evans tells EW. "Manhattan at that time was a melting pot of culture and religion and races."
