Ne-Yo shows off some solid dance moves in this Step Up: High Water clip

Posted on

It simply wouldn’t be Step Up without some killer dance moves — and Ne-Yo proves the new TV series spin-off of the hit movie franchise is ready to bring it in this exclusive clip of YouTube Red’s Step Up: High Water.

Rocking a pair of white sneakers, the “Miss Independent” crooner and World of Dance judge helps High Water student Rigo (Terrence Green) work through some tricky steps and turns set to a yet-unreleased track by Ne-Yo himself.

When Rigo asks Ne-Yo’s Sage Odom about his upcoming album, he promises, “We about to change hearts, we about to change minds, we about to show ’em what it is to be fly one more time,” which, obviously, could be said about this whole Step Up reinvention, too.

“[Ne-Yo] is an absolute blessing and godsend for the show,” executive producer Adam Shankman tells EW. “He’s the sweetest man. He turned out to be an extraordinary actor. As the series goes on, you’re going to see some of the acting range just go crazy.”

Step Up: High Water will kick off with a special event taking place in movie theaters across the country on Jan. 30. In addition to a screening of the first Step Up movie, the “Step Up: High Water Premiere Event” will feature the first episode of the TV series — which is executive produced by Channing and Jenna Dewan Tatum, Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, and Holly Sorensen — as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the 10-episode series. Go to FathomEvents.com for further details.

Then, on Jan. 31, Step Up: High Water launches on YouTube Red.
