Meryl Streep jokes about Mariah Carey at Golden Globes: 'B---- stole my seat'

Posted on

Meryl Streep confirmed Mariah Carey took her spot during Sunday’s Golden Globes — or as Streep told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night: “Bitch stole my seat.”

“Yeah, I came over and there she was next to [Steven] Spielberg sucking up,” Streep explained. “So, she said, ‘Oh my god, they made me sit down!’ Because you know, we’re moving, they make you … everyone has to drop to their seat,” Streep said before Kimmel compared the situation to musical chairs.

Streep said Carey made a play to get up, but the actress thought of another solution. “I said, ‘No, no, no, stay there. I’ll sit on your lap.’ Because, why not? It looked comfy.”

On Sunday night, Carey tweeted that she got “caught mingling on the way to the loo” during a commercial break and grabbed the first seat available… which just happened to belong to Streep.
