Grey's Anatomy spin-off gets premiere date (yet still has no title)

ABC’s spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy now has a premiere date.

The firefighter-based soap will have a two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, and then will shift to its regular 9 p.m. slot. Scandal will now shift to 10 p.m. for its final run, with a series finale on April 19.

According to ABC, the series “follows a group of heroic firefighters at Seattle Fire Station 19 – from captain to newest recruit – as they risk their lives and hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock. These brave men and women are like family, literally and figuratively, and together they put their own lives in jeopardy as first responders to save the lives of others.”

Interestingly, the spin-off still has no title, even though its premiere is only a few months away and the network presumably will want to start promoting it soon.

The show stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy Herrera, Jason George as Ben Warren, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Alberto Frezza as Ryan Tanner, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Okieriete Onaodowan as Dean Miller, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop, and Miguel Sandoval as Captain Pruitt Herrera.

For more, here’s a deep-dive interview with showrunner Stacy McKee on the spin-off.

The new schedule also includes another Shondaland debut, For the People, an ensemble legal drama that follows six young lawyers working on opposite sides of the law and handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country (Britt Robertson, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Wesam Keesh and Hope Davis lead the cast).
