Dan Harmon apologizes for treating female writer ‘like garbage’

Posted on

Rick and Morty showrunner Dan Harmon is having an extremely candid exchange with a former Community writer on Twitter who he openly confesses to treating “like garbage.”

In a detailed back and forth with writer Megan Ganz (whose credits include Community, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Modern Family), Harmon acknowledges inappropriate behavior toward Ganz during her time on the notoriously chaotic NBC sitcom (she’s credited with working on 35 episodes from 2011 to 2013). Things began Tuesday after Harmon dubbed 2017 the “Year of the Asshole” and continued into the early morning hours Wednesday…

Previously, Harmon’s Adult Swim sensation Rick and Morty switched to a gender-balanced writing staff for season 3, which angered some of the show’s fans. In an EW exclusive last summer, Harmon vigorously defended the show’s new writers and slammed online trolls attacking them.
