Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Tuesday’s episode of Marvel’s Runaways. Read at your own risk!

With the future looking bleak, several of the Runaways acted on their feelings during Tuesday’s penultimate episode of Marvel’s Runaways.

As the kids planned to destroy Jonah’s drilling machine, which could cause catastrophic damage to the world, they knew there was a good chance that a run-in with Pride could lead to tragedy. Therefore, Gert (Ariela Barer) and Chase (Gregg Sulkin) finally took the next step by sleeping together.

“They obviously acted on feelings that Gert has had for a long time and Chase has recently discovered,” executive producer Josh Schwartz tells EW. “But very quickly, the mission and the high stakes that they’re facing are going to take over. Gert is somebody who wants to talk about her feelings, and this isn’t really going to be the proper opportunity to have it all out, as much as she’d like to analyze the relationship in its infancy.”

But they weren’t the only ones to act on their feelings as Karolina (Virginia Gardner) kissed Nico (Lyrica Okano) — who kissed her back! “Yes, whatever their shipper name is, it’s on,” Schwartz confirms, officially dubbing them “Nicolina.” (Read our previous stories on the couple here and here.)

Unfortunately, with the Runaways planning to, well, actually run away, these pairings will only muddy the waters. “Obviously as the group is more and more isolated, and only relying on itself, these romantic entanglements are only going to complicate the group dynamic,” Schwartz teases.

The season finale of Marvel’s Runaways will be released Tuesday on Hulu. Read our postmortem with Schwartz and fellow EP Stephanie Savage on those big Pride reveals here.
