Jimmy Fallon on Matt Lauer: 'He's probably at a bar with Charlie Rose'

Posted on

Following the news on Wednesday morning of Matt Lauer’s firing from NBC over sexual misconduct allegations, several of the late-night hosts took digs at the former TODAY host, with The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon being no exception. “The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was lit tonight,” Fallon said at the opening of his monologue. “Also getting lit tonight, the HR rep over at the TODAY show. Today has been rough.”

Fallon then tried to guess the current whereabouts of Lauer, also making light of the recent firing of Charlie Rose from CBS. “If you’re wondering where in the world is Matt Lauer, he’s probably at a bar with Charlie Rose,” he joked.

Like fellow hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon addressed Donald Trump’s immediate response to Lauer’s firing, suggesting that the president may also be a bit worried.

“[Lauer and Garrison Keillor] are just the latest in a long line of famous men to lose their jobs for inappropriate sexual behavior, or as one guy put it, ‘Is it hot in here? It’s getting hot, right? It feels like super hot. Like really, really hot,'” said Fallon, switching to his Trump impression.
