Aubrey Plaza, Judy Greer, more make their Easy debut in new season 2 trailer

Season 2 of Joe Swanberg’s Netflix anthology series is almost here, and judging by the trailer — premiering exclusively here — there’s still nothing, well, Easy about modern romance.

The clip includes a young couple’s make-out session getting interrupted by a parent, a married man (Michael Chernus) preparing to receive a mid-massage handjob, Marc Maron and Michaela Watkins laughing through a bad date, and, oh, yeah, Aubrey Plaza tackling a dude on the sidewalk.

The first season of Easy spotlighted a different set of characters each episode, and some of those characters will return in episodes this season. This time around, the cast includes Kate Berlant, Joe Lo Truglio, and Judy Greer, along with season 1 alums like Dave Franco, Zazie Beetz, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Micucci, Aya Cash, Jane Adams, Jacqueline Toboni, Evan Jonigkeit, Marz Timms, and Kiersey Clemons.

Creator Swanberg — known for writing, directing, and producing films like 2014’s Happy Christmas and 2013’s Drinking Buddies — went into the show hoping to follow these characters for more than just one episode in one season, “almost like Boyhood or the Seven Up! documentary series.”

“[I started thinking about] introducing characters in this short form and then coming back in the subsequent seasons and checking back in on them and a year has passed, and we’re not really sure what has happened in the meantime,” he told EW when season 1 came out. “Maybe the effect of multiple seasons of this would be a deeper, more interesting use of the long-term television format than choosing a couple of lead characters and following them for a few seasons.”

Catch up with those characters — plus the new ones — when Easy’s entire second season premieres Dec. 1 on Netflix. Watch the trailer above.
