Future Man, the new Hulu series from the minds of comedy team Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, doesn’t reinvent the wheel by any means, but provides a simple yet quality watch, according to Bingeworthy hosts Jessica Shaw and Touré.

“Sometimes you just want a fun, silly, goofy kind of show, and that’s to me what this show was,” says Shaw. “It never took it to the next level of comedy like this is some kind of subversive statement on video game culture or anything, but it was just kind of a blast.” Touré completely agreed with the point, adding that “it’s not going to win awards or anything, but it doesn’t want to.”

The series stars Josh Hutcherson and Eliza Coupe — who received sparkling reviews for her performance from both Shaw and Touré — and spans across multiple decades. Touré notes that the show enters familiar, comfortable territory for fans of the Rogen/Goldberg shtick.

“If you like the whole Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg style of comedy, and you grew up watching all these sci-fi futuristic shows, this will be like basic home cooking for you,” he says.
