Netflix pulls children's show episode featuring inconspicuous penis drawing

Maya the Bee was so innocent

Posted on

Netflix has pulled an episode of children’s show Maya the Bee after a concerned parent complained about a penis drawing that appeared in the background during a scene.

The mother has since deleted her Facebook post complaining about the drawing but wrote in part: “Please be mindful of what your kids are watching. I did NOT edit any images whatsoever, this is Maya the Bee Season 1, Episode 35. I know I’m not going crazy and I know that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever.”

A video of the offending scene also remains on YouTube.

The first season of the show, from French production company Studio 100 Animation, has been available on Netflix since 2013. Maya the Bee follows Maya, the bee, who sneaks outside her hive to explore the meadow — and, apparently, its graphic graffiti.
