Regina King’s episode of This Is Us will contain a big surprise for fans.
During E!’s Live from the Red Carpet: The 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards, King teased the episode of the NBC drama that she’s directing this season. “You get to meet the Big Three in a decade you’ve never seen them in before,” said King on the red carpet. “I love this show. As amazing as this show is, the crew and cast is times 10 amazing.”
According to Variety, which broke the news that King was stepping behind the camera on This Is Us in August, she directed the sixth episode of season 2.
Tonight, King is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her role on the most recent season of American Crime, which was canceled in May despite its multiple Emmy nominations. She has won this award for the past two years.
This Is Us received 10 Emmy nominations in its first season and has won one already: Gerald McRaney took home the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series last weekend at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
