House Speaker Paul Ryan made it pretty clear in a radio interview last week that he didn’t think President Trump should end the Obama-era program known as DACA, which shields young undocumented immigrants from deportation. Or at least he didn’t think so until Trump did just that.

As Seth Meyers pointed out Thursday on Late Night, Ryan pulled a 180 and said Trump “made the right call” when he decided to rescind the program with a six-month delay.

“Paul Ryan flips so much he should be at SeaWorld,” Meyers said in his signature A Closer Look segment.

Adding that Ryan and other GOP leaders “traded in their dignity and changed their minds to line up behind Trump,” Meyers gleefully observed that the president “threw all of them under the bus” when he later suggested on Twitter that he might change his mind about terminating the DACA program.

“Trump’s Pottery Barn rule is, ‘If I break it, Paul Ryan buys it,'” Meyers said.

He also gave kudos to Representative Nancy Pelosi of California for convincing Trump to try to reassure DACA recipients via Twitter.

“So Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi got Donald Trump to call her, and then suggested he tweet something that he then tweeted,” Meyers said. “That is some serious Jedi s—, Nancy Pelosi, bravo!”

Channeling Obi-Wan Kenobi, he added, “These are not the immigrants that you’re looking for.”
