Jimmy Kimmel blasts Trump over 'horrible' DACA decision: 'No good reason'

Posted on

Jimmy Kimmel joined a chorus of critics opposing Donald Trump’s decision to end the Obama-era program DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which could result in the deportation of 800,000 young, undocumented immigrants (or Dreamers).

“This morning, our president woke up and asked his staff, ‘Now that this hurricane is over, what’s something horrible I can do to distract people from the Russia investigation?’ Someone said, ‘You know there are 800,000 innocent kids you can deport for no good reason.’ And he said, ‘Done and done,'” Kimmel joked on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

According to reports, Trump wavered over the decision after months of saying publicly that Dreamers “shouldn’t be very worried” about the possibility of deportation. Kimmel’s theory on why Trump made his decision? “This is what he wants to do away with, mostly because President Obama is the one ordered it. It seems like his main agenda is to undo everything Obama did,” the host said. “I hope he doesn’t bring Bin Laden back to life.”

As Kimmel noted, “some of these kids have never visited the places they could get deported to.” He then read a fake statement from the president’s spokesperson: “It was a difficult decision, the president has been debating it for months. But ultimately Donald Trump believes that if these kids want to be American, they have to do it the right way — by marrying Donald Trump.”

The host closed out the segment by running a parody ad featuring the Trump children in support of DACA. Watch above.
