Jordan Klepper parodies conspiracy theories in The Opposition trailer

‘China isn’t real,’ the former ‘Daily Show’ correspondent declares

Posted on

Years ago, The Colbert Report won raves for its parody of Bill O’Reilly and other blowhard Fox News anchors. These days, Stephen Colbert has moved on to more mainstream late-night hosting duties, but Comedy Central is still devoting comedic energy to parodying right-wing media. Their latest entry in the genre is The Opposition, hosted by Jordan Klepper. Based on the first trailer, it looks like Klepper will be spoofing right-wing websites like Breitbart and InfoWars, which often pepper their reporting with conspiracy theories or outrageous claims.

“They say our children should learn Chinese. I say, China isn’t real!” Klepper declares in the trailer. In true Donald Trump form, he continues, “No one I know has ever been there, and I know, like, a ton of people.”

The Opposition will premiere Sep. 25 at 11:30 p.m. ET, following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. It takes over the slot previously occupied by Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show.
