Like many fellow Americans, Stephen Colbert is struggling to keep calm and carry on amid escalating tensions between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
“I don’t want to be alarmist,” the Late Show host said in his monologue Tuesday, “but we’re all gonna die.”
Citing reports that U.S. intelligence analysts believe North Korea is developing missile-ready nuclear weapons, Colbert called out a certain basketball diplomat: “My God, Dennis Rodman, did you do nothing?!” he said.
Of course, Colbert also had words for Trump, who set the international community on edge when he threatened that Kim and his regime “will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen” if they don’t back down.
After pretending to take cover, Colbert emerged to address the president in a tense whisper. “Shut up!” he implored. “You’ll get us all killed! And I just started The Handmaid’s Tale.”
