A wrongly accused teen, a high school in chaos, a modern day witch hunt, and a filmmaker intent on finding the truth. The crime? Spray-painting d—ks on cars.

As a play on the current cultural phenomenon of bingeing true crime content on Netflix, Netflix announced Thursday a new true crime satire American Vandal. The mockumentary series — produced by CBS Television Studios, Funny Or Die, and 3Arts — follows amateur high school filmmaker Spencer as he tries to exonerate an expelled senior boy (with a history of d—k-drawing) who he believes might be innocent. Jimmy Tatro, of YouTube fame, will play the accused Dylan Maxwell, with Peter Maldonado (Orange Is the New Black) playing Spencer. Watch the trailer, and experience the power of tonal editing, below.

American Vandal‘s eight-episode first season will be available to stream Sept. 15.
