Quantico has a new recruit.
Marlee Matlin is joining the cast for the series’ third season, ABC announced on Monday.
Matlin’s character is Jocelyn Turner, an ex-FBI agent who saw her career as an undercover field agent derailed when an exploding bomb left her deaf. Now, Turner has been recruited to join a special unit alongside other returning Quantico characters.
Matlin joins four returning series regulars, including breakout star Priyanka Chopra, and new showrunner Michael Seitzman for the series’ third season.
The barrier-breaking actress earned an Academy Award when she was only 21 for her performance opposite William Hurt in Children of a Lesser God; Matlin is the only performer who is deaf to have won an Oscar. She has since gone on to great success on television, earning four Emmy nominations and appearing on shows as varied as Seinfeld, The West Wing, The L Word, and Switched at Birth.
Most recently, Matlin made her Broadway debut in the 2015 Tony-nominated revival of Spring Awakening and signed the National Anthem alongside Lady Gaga at the 2016 Super Bowl.
