The votes are in — and TRL is the winner: The MTV show is coming back Oct. 2, the network announced Monday.
The revamped version will film in the original Times Square studio, which has been “expanded by nearly 200 percent,” according to a press release. The rotating roster of hosts includes D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Amy Pham, Tamara Dhia, and Lawrence Jackson.
TRL made its official debut in 1998 with Carson Daly at its helm. He would continue to host in some capacity until 2003 when a new rotation of VJs — including Hilarie Burton, Vanessa Lachey, and La La Vasquez — stepped in.
The daily series featured the top music videos, as well as appearances and performances from the most popular musicians at the time. It went off the air in 2008 and was briefly revived for a one-off episode in 2014. The franchise also served as the inspiration for 2016’s Total Registration Live, an MTV special urging young people to register to vote.
