If enlightening documentary footage and revealing interviews with some of the biggest music kingpins in the business is your thing, then HBO’s new docuseries The Defiant Ones will be a delicious binge. It sure was for our Bingeworthy hosts Touré and Jessica Shaw, who are in agreement that the show, following the rise of music moguls Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, is certainly not to be deleted.

“There’s so many great moments in this,” raves Touré, noting footage from parties at Dre’s house and on his yacht. “You get to see Jimmy and Dre’s brilliance in working with truly creative people. It’s just so much fun.”

“The footage is insane!” Shaw concurs. “You see what they went through to get to the point where they became billionaires.” One of her favorite parts in the series covers Dre’s childhood, and how he made mixtapes to sell to kids in the neighborhood.

The series, which debuted July 9 on HBO, includes footage with Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, and Bruce Springsteen, along with many others.
