Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson will come face-to-face in Empire-Star crossover episodes

Plus, Jussie Smollett will guest on ‘Star’

Carlotta, meet Cookie. For the season premieres of Empire and Star, Fox will air two crossover episodes where the characters’ worlds collide. The musical dramas will be exchanging cast members: Queen Latifah, who plays Carlotta, the mother-figure and now the reluctant manager of Star‘s musical trio, will head to Empire and encounter the Lyon clan.

Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon on Empire, will guest on Star, where “the girls – with Carlotta as their manager – continue to face roadblocks, despite their victory at Atlanta NextFest,” per the release. Perhaps Jamal, who struggled considerably with producing his album in season 3, will be able to help these fellow struggling musicians in Atlanta or vice versa.

The Empire premiere will pick up right as the family’s label is approaching its 20th anniversary as Lucious makes his first public appearance since the Las Vegas explosion. Demi Moore will resume her recurring role as the suspicious Nurse Claudia.

Catch the season 4 premiere of Empire Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, followed by the season 2 premiere of Star at 9 p.m. ET, and watch the teaser for the crossover episodes above.
