Stephen Colbert is “a big enough man to apologize” when it’s called for, he admitted in his post-Russia return to The Late Show Monday night. And he has a sincere apology for President Trump.

POTUS accused former President Barack Obama of knowing about Russia meddling in the U.S. election. “The real story is that President Obama did NOTHING after being informed in August about Russian meddling,” he wrote in a series of tweets posted yesterday. “With 4 months looking at Russia….under a magnifying glass, they have zero ‘tapes’ of T people colluding. There is no collusion & no obstruction. I should be given apology!”

So Colbert mustered up an apology. “I think I speak for the majority of Americans when I say, ‘I’m sorry you’re president,’” he said. He pointed to his heart as the audience cheered, adding, “It comes from here.”

And don’t think Colbert missed Trump referring to himself as “T.”

“Who the hell is T?” he asked. “You know there’s already a letter for when you’re talking about yourself. It’s ‘I,’ as in, ‘I don’t believe anyone calls you T!’ You can’t give yourself a nickname!”
