Cash Cab is making its television return, and it’s bringing host Ben Bailey along for the ride!
The comedian, who’d hosted the Emmy Award-winning reality show when it was on from 2005-2012, again will be picking up (at first) unsuspecting passengers and navigating New York City traffic as he peppers them with trivia questions en route. Riders will have to avoid getting three questions wrong if they don’t want to end up on the street. Luckily, they’ll be able to ask friends and regular pedestrians for help using their phone, texts, or even social media shoutouts if they get stumped.
“Holy #%$&!! Cash Cab is back!!! HUGE thanks to all the fans who pushed for the show (and for me) to come back!” said Bailey in a statement. “Never before has a comedian been so happy to go back to driving a cab. OMG, I think I left the meter running!”
Bailey’s return isn’t the only surprise the show, which will air on the Discovery Channel, has in store for viewers. The series will also feature some celebrity guests, though none have been announced yet.
Since Cash Cab, Bailey has been featured in two Comedy Central specials and most recently his first Netflix special, Road Rage and Accidental Ornithology.
Comedian David Steinberg (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) helms the revival with All3Media’s Lion USA serving as executive producers. Fellow executive producers include Bailey himself, Tony Tackaberry, Allison Corn, with Robyn Todd co-executive producing.
