After seven seasons in Rosewood, there are plenty of Pretty Little Liars episodes to love. But when EW sat down with showrunner I. Marlene King and stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, and Lucy Hale, we asked them about the hours that stood out in their minds.
“Everybody loves the black-and-white episode,” King says before the conversation quickly flips to another memorable hour.
“The dollhouse was really special,” Bellisario says, with Benson adding, “Hunger Games was really hot and heavy in the teen world at that moment, so when we got to see the [dollhouse] set, it literally felt like we were doing a Hunger Games movie. I remember us all being so excited. We never got to do anything of that sort before, being locked in one place for two episodes.”
King remembers the dollhouse as being one of the show’s darker hours, which is precisely why Bellisario says she loves it. “We finally got to go to those places,” Bellisario says. “So often I feel like we had to straddle that line of: You’re getting a really, really scary message from ‘A,’ but you’re also living your teenage life. [The dollhouse] was cool because it finally pulled us out of the rest of the world and put us into the darkness.”
