The Big Three — and the rest of the Pearsons — are coming to Hulu.
Hulu has acquired the SVOD rights to This Is Us, it was announced on Wednesday at Hulu’s NewFronts presentation. All episodes of NBC’s hit drama — which stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore and wrapped up its first year in March — will be made available on the streamer. It’s a co-exclusive deal, in that new and old episodes also can also be viewed on NBC.com and the NBC app. Hulu subscribers and NBC viewers who authenticate to their pay-TV service provider (cable, satellite) can watch the episodes on Hulu and on the apps and websites of NBC and on-demand providers.
”Dan Fogelman’s This Is Us is an extraordinary series that grew in viewership throughout its acclaimed first season, and we think it has the potential to expand its audience even further,” said Dana Walden and Gary Newman, CEOs of Fox Television Group, in a statement. (20th Century Fox Television produces the show.) “This groundbreaking deal offers unprecedented access to consumers on multiple platforms, from Hulu to the apps of our network partner NBC, creating opportunity for viewers to find, catch up and experience again every incredible episode. It’s an exciting deal which is a ‘win’ for all our companies but for fans of this fantastic television show most of all.”
Season 1 of This Is Us netted 15.3 million viewers and a 4.8 rating in the 18-to-49 demographic in live-plus-7 ratings. Earlier in the season, NBC renewed the show for not one but two more seasons.
