Colony has been renewed for season 3, USA Network announced Tuesday.

The alien occupation drama, which stars Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies, has been picked up for a 13-episode third season that is expected to debut in 2018. The news comes as the drama, which hails from Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, is set to air its season 2 finale on Thursday night.

Colony continues to fire on all cylinders creatively, with Carlton, Ryan, and our incredible cast and crew striking a deep chord around the themes of humanity, survival, and family,” says Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “Along with our partners Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our heroes next season.”

Adds Jeff Wachtel, president and CCO of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment: “When Carlton and Ryan first pitched Colony, they described it as ‘the Nazi occupation of France, with aliens.’ In a world increasingly filled with uncertainty about authoritarian regimes, season 3 will forge an even deeper connection with our audience. It’s a quality show that we know will stand the test of time.”

Colony airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
